Default Navigation system suggestions

Does anyone have a suggestion for an aftermarket navigation system?

Default Check out the new Street Pilot III...

I'm considering this one...at about $800, not bad. It has auto-reroute...no more ploting on your laptop first

If the $ isn't that important, go with the Alpine DVD system

But then don't we lose the connected features of the Audi system with the ECU and displays? Any way around this, or are those features not that important? Your thoughts please.

Default i have an alpine head unit (not the gps unit), and it is a big improvement over the standard...

and bose systems for the tt...you give up the ability to see the radio station display and the ability to use the audi/motorola telephone -- small losses in my opinion.

Default Hadn't really thought about that...

You'll lose the display in between the tach and speedo no matter what aftermarket head unit you go with. With the alpine system, you will have the motorized screen instead of that though. I do not have this setup, although ive been thinking about doing it. I've been told that it will fit fine in a TT, and you can keep the Metal cover for the radio. I think i know how it can be modified, very slightly, to open the motorized screen too.
