Navigation system update.....
Just called the Blaupunkt order line to get the latest update for my Audi OEM Nav CD, and to purchase an additional map or 2. They told me that individual map CDs for my Audi system are available for $150 each. Then the order taker went away to check for latest version numbers. She came back and said they just now have release a new package of ALL CDs for $259. The package includes 11 CDs, for the entire US plus Canada (including Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver). The CDs are latest versions. They expect delivery and ability to ship by tomorrow.
Just got back from week-long road trip (Cleveland to Rhode Island). Sure was great having Nav system navigate through NYC, with bridges, traffic jams, etc. It was really nice to wake up in unfamiliar city and have directions to just about everywhere, without even looking at maps. It seemed to know where every hotel, restaurant, and shopping center was. All my appointments were simply "punch-in-the-address-and-go". Anyway, got lost on the way home going through Allentown, PA, because I didn't have the CD that covered that area (# 8 I believe.)
I think I'm going for the 11 CD deal.

CORRECTION to the above, latest info.....
Went to place order and asked for verification that the package disks will work in the Audi. She said that I should call Tech Support to verify, and that the CDs are NOT returnable! So, I called Tech Support and they verified that, Yes, the CDs will work, but they are generic CDs--meaning that they do not have the extra, Audi specific information. (Apparently Audi adds a bunch of special location and destination info.)
Also, the generic disk are the current version of 3/00, but a newer version, with updated streets and routes and many more POI (points of interest) is planned for this month or next. This newer version is 1st available through car dealers, in this case Audi and Mercedes. The guy said that the Audi package will be offered in the 11 CD form, at a similar price, i.e., $259, or perhaps a little more.
So the net is that I am going to wait for the official Audi package. I will research this and post a note as soon as I have info. Sorry for the confusion.

Kinda makes you wonder....
Why are they holding back? Probably for future updating. The new updated disks better fill it up with lots more data, and include areas they missed. Trying to get information from Audi is like pulling teeth! All they know how to do is refer you to the dealer, who doesn't know squat--they're just order takers. Dale.
