Default Need Help: Service indicator needs re-setting,..... (Shortish Rant)

I'm putting less miles per service cycle on the car than scheduled six month maintenance.

Last time I had the car serviced, they forgot to re-set the service interval indicator. No biggie, but I'm getting tired of having the thing virtually yell "Get Me Serviced, Duffus !" every time I turn the damn thing on.

Yesterday I was toolin' around with the top down, and noticed an Audi dealer, so I pulled in to see if they could re-set the indicator for me.

Now if I remember correctly, you can re-set the indicator by using the odometer/clock re-set ***** on the dash, so I sez as much to Mr. Audi Brand Specialist. He looks at me like I got lobsters crawlin' outta my ears and goes off to see the service manager. The service manager emerges with an annoyed look on his face and says, "Was it serviced here?" (I reply in the negative) "I can fit you in but I'll have to charge you. That takes a machine to re-set."

Give me a break ! This guy's gonna charge me to re-set the service indicator ?! What kinda horse hockey is this ?

If he'd just said he didn't know how to manually re-set it, or that his service guys were too busy to mess with my car, I'd have made a mental note not to do business with the guy, but to demand payment for something like this is absolutely the most petty kind of insult.

OK, who remembers how to re-set the dang service indicator ? I'd take it to the dealer except he's a two hour drive.

Thanks.

Default If it were me, I'd call the dealership's GM and have him pull the service manual

for the TT, ask him to turn to the appropriate page number, and then ask him if the book had been read by his service dept. When he asks why, I would tell him what the service manager had told you about your car and how he had bald-faced lied to you.

It may not make any difference, but I'll bet it will make you feel better!

Default Here's what I did...

Ignition off
-Press trip recorder reset button(shiny **** on right)on dash & at the same time switch on ignition
-The center display(in the lower window) will show:"SERVICE IN XXXX mi" or "SERVICE"
-release button
-turn other shiny button(on left)counter or clockwise(whichever it goes)This will reset the display
-display will now read: "SERVICE" in "XXXX" I believe the new interval will be 9,300 mi.
- Switch ignition off. Good luck
