Need some torque-age info plz..>
well, this AM my tensioner on my serp belt went poof, and now it is replaced along with new belt.
The place i was at, got very worried about the bolt on my crank pulley not being tightened enough. They said it looked like it had play, which was making the new serp belt "wander" and eventually going to come off.
They told me not to start my car and take to audi.
I think it may not be tight enough from the water pump change i did three weeks ago, and 2000 km's ago.
Audi dealerships in my area are few, and they can't look at my car until next friday (it is a long weekend here in canada), so I got it towed home to look at it.
What is the recommended torque rating for the bolt, i also grabbed some high heat lock-tite.
Signed...
Sad and worried!

The crank screw should not have been removed...
it's not necessary to do so in order to replace the timing belt or water pump. There are 4 smaller screws which do get removed in order to remove the serpentine belt pulley on the crankshaft.
If you somehow loosened the big screw in the center, I think you need to lock the flywheel in order to get enough tightening torque. I wouldn't doubt you also need to use some sort of thread locker.

There's no way in hell you removed the center fastener>>
going into the crankshaft, without locking the crank down first, even then it's a bitch. I'd guess it's tightened to 200-300 ft/#.
If that fastener were loose, you'd have much bigger problems than just a sloppy serpentine belt, IMHO.
