Default New here...Need EFU 4 U help w/ aftermarket stereo install...

Hello, new to the forums here. Will post pics soon here. Decided today that I wanted to upgrade the headunit in the 01 225 Q Roadster I got this week and in so doing of course, I need to re run the wiring for the EFU 4 U to work again *it is installed*. I am hoping someone here can post instructions as the ones I found were VERY vague for an aftermarket installation and such.

That is all I have found...

If it isn't possible...I guess Concert I will be going back in!

Default There are not many EFU kits out there, not sure if/how many have it with an aftermarket

radio. The answer to your question is in the link you provided, in the appendix, under "Attach the EFU to A3/S3/TT without ,,radio from factory". I doubt you will get any better information than that... You can also try to contact CXI directly, they have been pretty helpful for me in the past.

http://www.cxi-europe.com/</a

Default Here is a different manual link, but it has fewer references to aftermarket situations.

Default Doubtful, as my install is full OEM. He has that working, but wants to change

to an aftermarket head unit, which injects some ambiguity in the instructions provided by CXI...

Default Figured it out guys...for future reference...

Must have just been a long day with alot of lookng at wires, etc. I want to provide information for anyone that has to do this in the future.

Let me say...right now, I have the EFU4U up and working without issue now....WITH the aftermarket Pioneer DEH-P6000UB I installed in the car with NO hacking of any harness' on the car of the EFU unit itself!!!

How did it work...well...really, quite easily. For anyone that has Concert I with a current EFU 4 U and want to upgrade I searched via google and found another good .pdf manual after searching for about 20min with different words. Great. Had a good wiring diagram. Then I was looking at the diagrams provided by the PDF for the EFU setup and gave some thought to the Enfig Audi- Pioneer adaptor I had for the head unit. The Enfig harness allows a direct adaption to the factory power supply for the headunit. Additionally, the "EFU4U" adaptor plug is made so that there is basically a "tap" provided so that you can plug the factory "stereo power supply" plug into the "tap" and then the rest of the adaptor straight into the head unit. Well...since I had the Enfig harness, all I simply had to do to get things working was to use the tap on the "EFU" harness the same way it would have been with the factory unit and then plug the "adaptor" end of the ENFIG plug into the Pioneer-Audi Power supply plug (which of course runs straight to the headunit. So really...a dumb mistake on my part if I would have thought about all the plug connections in the first place!

A quick check of everything with the headunit sitting on the seat of the car with the car on contact showed "EFU4U Ready" and I started the car and ran through the options...everything is there and working.

Didn't put it all back together tonight as I need to go get one more Ground Loop Isolator to finish the install (still getting a popping sound ). Will let you know tomorrow how it goes...AND pics hopefully!

Thinking now I might take advantage of the V1 option!

Default Its possible Joe, I have done it before. ;-)

It should be no problem. The Efu connects between the radio and dash. Just disconnect the oem head unit and connect your harness (I forget which brand I used).

Stock or Aftermarket Radio ->EFU Plugs -> Car Harness

If yours doesnt work, I can send you mine. Call me if you have any questions, this may be the last time I check this forum. :-( -Doug

BTW - The V1 connection is in the fuse box. Looks like a phone cord.
