NEW INTERCOOLER LAY OUT HELP PLZ....
I HAVE JUST TACKING DELIVERY OF A UNIVERSAL FIT FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER AND NEED SOME ADVICE. THE INTER COOLER HAS THE INLET ON ONE END AND THE EXIT ON THE OTHER END. BUT BOTH CONNECT ON SAME SIDE(ONE SIDE HAD A PIPE THAT EXTENDS OVER THE TOP ) SO I THINK THIS WILL BE EACH TO HOOK IN TO MY 180 HP TT DUE TO THE SINGLE SIDED INTERCOOLER SET UP IT HAS STOCK. BUT IM NOT SHEER IF I CAN JUST MOCK UP A SET OF PIPES I NEED MADE AND HAVE A COMPANY BEND THEM FOR ME MAIL ORDER STYLE OR HAVE AN LOCAL EXHAUST SHOP OR SOME THING DO IT. AND ALSO I BUT A ELECTRIC FAN TO PUT ON THE INTERCOOLER FOR LOW SPEED DRIVING. DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A TRICK SET UP TO USE FOR CONTORTING THIS FAN? LIKE SOME KIND OF THERMOSTAT OR SOME THING TO IT IS AUTOMATIC?

how 'bout you turn off the caps <sheesh> anyway, you are dooing
exactly what I have been through many times....
You could go to a shop that has welding fabricating skills and have them fab you up something, or you can buy pieces of tubing (45/90 degree bends and a few straights) and piece it together and have someone weld it for you.
You can also buy Samco in the same above mentioned pieces and build it yourself.

Steve and I both tried Electric fans (Steve's dual fans on his FMIC)
and mine (6.5" Spal fans) mounted on each of the OE 225 Dual intercoolers. I can not really recommend bothering with the fans. My dual intercooler (In/Out) gauge shows me ZERO rapid heat reduction. Steve has proven with testing, that the water/mister injection seems like the way to go. I put the fans on for excactly what you mentioned (Low speed driving).. To answer you question, there are thermostatically controlled and air pressure (speed) controled switches. I have mine set up for manual on/off. I don't even bother using them anymore. When I get around to it, I'll be pulling them out of there and going with the FMIC with H2O mister set up.

Go here......
For the Intercooler Mod stuff. An FMIC is so efficient (88-93%) that it benefits little from fan cooling as Chris said.

Modshack IC mods
