Next steps for my TT
 

So, as some of you may know, I got a 2007 335i coupe in December, and since then I am having a hard time tolerating the TT, which generally isn't as tossable, as fast, as comfortable, doesn't brake as well, etc. We're talking about 10 years of technology here, so although in terms of absolute performance there's a big gap, the TT is still engaging and fun to drive. The BMW is superb, but not especially exciting, so there's still room for a raw sporty car in the stable. Of course in the snow, there's no comparison, even though I fitted winter tires on the BMW. My original intent was to trade the TT in when I picked up the BMW, but I didn't get around to it (and was conflicted anyway), and so she's sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I have some service to do on her (40k service, fix a few broken things), and she needs a good detailing (some stuff dripped on her from my garage's leaky roof). Once that's done (and probably $2k later, she'll be as good as new to either keep or to sell.

She's only got 37k miles, so I can probably get some decent cash back on a person-to-person sale. And right before the new TT is everywhere, My MK1's resale is probably the highest it's ever gonna get (until 2020 when it's collectable, ha ha). So these are my options as I see them:

1. Keep the TT as a beater
2. Keep the TT and put about $10k into it, get a stage III kit, brakes, and suspension, and keep her as a track car and winter beater (as long as she's not lowered too much)
3. Sell the TT and put the money I get towards a superior track/fun car like a 996 GT3, Lotus Exige, etc.

By the way, I'm not looking for financial advice, this is purely about what would maximize my car enjoyment. I'll weigh the value of that versus other financial constraints myself.

Me thinks thou damn-eth the TT with faint praise- dump it - you've lost the magic

The GT3 would answer all of your track/fun/exciting needs! Not even a question for me.

BMW is more than adequate in the snow. If you can make it happen the GT3 would be a no-brainer

get a ZO6 and sprinkle on some mods

gotta say....$$ no issue? GT3 over ZO6. Hell, I'd mod 'em, regardless of which was in garage.>

keep the Quattro TT and make it into a track car.

I am thnking about getting a 225 TTCQ in a years' time (an 03 or 04), rollcaging the car, APR Stg3, a decent suspension and spend time tracking it.

Hopefully the 2.0T TT will be available with Quattro and a 6spd down the line as that should be a fun car with its lower weight and better balance.

He has done a bunch of prepping for the track and all.. its in great condition...
