Default Next widescreen TV question (thanks for the other suggestions) >>>

As an avid PS2 addict, I need to know that the game will look fine on a 16:9 aspect monitor. Will I have any problems with that?

I think the PS2 has an explicit 16:9 aspect mode.

I think you will continue to have "problems," regardless of aspect ratio(s) >:-p

I think you're right. I recall that as a setup option. Thanks.

Default Morning Joel..... I'm not enough of a tech geek to give you the advice you need, but>>

one of my buddies, who exists higher in the food chain than myself, just bought this fine piece of equipment. As yourself and Jill also exist in a different zone of the evolutional scale than I, you might take a look at this. It's an LCD picture and it made every other HDTV in the building look like a 1965 Zenith console by comparison. The picture is really beyond comment. UNREAL! I already tried to get ahold of him to see if he had any good info I could pass to you, but he's doing a remodel and running all over the place, so I missed him. If you have any questions, e-mail me, and I can get em to my geek buddy Larry.

The page with the link might give you some tech info you could use.

http://www.sonystyle.com/home/item.jsp?hierc=9685&itemid=26881</a

Default Most of the better 16:9 ratio sets have the option of....

viewing in the wide screen aspect or you can shrink the image down to the traditional 4:3 ratio.

My Mitubishi can do that. I've had it since February and have been pretty pleased with it so far.

I don't have PS2 or XBOX (yet) so I don't know specifically how they interact, but it should be fine.

Default LCD screens still have a problem with black.....

if you are watching a show that has scenes that are supposed to be black (like space) they tend to end up being dark grey instead.

Or at least they did when I was shopping around a few months ago. Maybe the technology has changed a bit.

Default For $6,000 bones, I'd hope they had that figured out. From the scenes I saw>>

on the TV, the picture was surreal it was so good. Simply amazing.... but then again I wasn't concentrating on black screen moments. Larry has it delivered today and he'll have all the AV stuff hooked up by tomorrow, so we'll see then.
