Default A nice day ends tragically >>>

Went to the Dayton OH air show today and saw a lot of great airplanes and acts. Unfortunately about 2:30 this afternoon Jim Leroy in a Pitts Bulldog hit the runway during an act with another Pitts doing mirror image moves.

After impact the plane slid about 300 yards down the runway and caught fire. Rescue crews were there quickly and put the fire out. He was transported via a medivac HH-60 that was on display at the airshow but died en route.

Hard to say for sure, but the impact while definitely severe might have been surviveable. The fire however was pretty intense. Even worse, his wife and son were at the show watching.

Give your loved ones a hug, life is too short.

Default There was one at the Osk Kosh air show this week as well.

Plus a WW II warbird made an emergency landing on the freeway en route but everyone there was safe.

Default Saw that Jeff: a tragedy indeed.

Life is short. Some die doing what they love, or their duty, or something inane. Loved ones always grieve for what might have been.

Pray for the departed.
