No spark on cylinder one
I posted last week about a coil issue. I Had my number 2 coil go out, I replaced it with a $26 dollar advanced auto coil. New one went out a mile down the road(which I moved to number one cylinder). After coil went and after having no choice but driving 20 miles on 3 cylinders the bad coil appeared to have created a permanent misifre on cylinder one that new plugs or working coils could not remedy. I removed my Brisk racing plugs and put new oem plugs in and replaced coil again with same non oem coil. upon installing it and starting the car the new coil(on cylinder 2) got very hot while the oem coils remained cool.
Every cylinder I moved it to misfired. My harness has some damaged insulation but after a testing connector pins with my multimeter it appears to not be affecting anything.
I put brand new oem coils in today hoping that would fix it still number one misfired. After testing no 1 with a spark tester it appears no 1 is not recieveing signal from ecu to fire. Coil 1 is however getting voltage. Just not a signal to fire. Also I dont know if its normal but after a playing around with my multimeter I have found that my coilpacks continue to get full voltage for 15-20 minutes after I shut the car off and remove the key!
My on guess is I have a ECU Issue. Anyone have any useful info?
I need help! I am sick of driving my friends loaner gitRdone redneck ford truck that gets a whopping 8 miles to a gallon!

this is your problem...

sure, a continuity test will show a connection, but that don't mean the current's not gonna jump around.
Fix the wiring,

Re: I'd bet more money on the wiring harness. Did you rest the CEL's?
Yep, cleared all codes still no spark on number one? Your probably right with the harness.
Its a long shot but do you know if there is anyway to reset the ECU on a TT.
I had an issue a few year back with my old Miata not getting any spark from the coil after I rebuilt the head. It turned out to be an issue with the throttle positioning . All it took was unplugging the battery hitting the brake 3 time to reset the ECU, problem solved. I doubt it will be that easy with my TT but who knows.
Anyone know the site to order a new harness?
