Default The offending power steering fluid line

Well, here it is. After R&R'ing my steering rack, I missed that one of the lines was rubbing on the axle. I sure didn't miss the noise though.

Chicago Performance & Tuning put in the new line. Also they flushed out all the power steering fluid (with the strange color) and knocked 30 bucks off the price of the alignment, since I had just paid for an alignment two weeks ago. So that was nice.

Here's the line:

And here's the spot that was rubbing. This was the damage from the distance between sTTevo's house and my house, about 5 miles.

Al said everything look good, it was just this one little mistake (that cost me another $250). But again, I guess that's why I'm not a mechanic. Might have been avoided, too, if the repair was done on a lift and not the garage floor. But at last, my steering is finally back to "normal." Just waiting for something else to break. Al said he was amazed that my turbo has lasted 137,000 miles -- he said they usually don't last that long. So I suspect that's the next thing to go...

Default Damn!! That isn't any fun at all. At least it's all back to being fine and good now...

Should you need a turbo, I picked up a very slightly used K04 before I went BT.

I'm sure it could be yours for a very reasonable sum if you wanted to have a spare (which would, of course, make certain that your turbo would be good FOREVER). ;-)

Default Yep. I'll put together a write-up (including how to avoid my mistake) for the FAQ.

Did you get those brakes done?

If I can go for a month or two without a repair bill, that ought to cover it.

Default Waiting on Warranty Company to approve replacing mine, plus ball joints.......

and CV boot, plus fuel senders, and then get alignment.

Default Hmmm

Tempting. But if the turbo goes, that camel's back will have broken.

Where'd you get it? How many miles on it?
