Default Oil drain plug question... My drain plug has a washer on it that cannot be removed. However,

when I picked up a new filter at the dealer today, a new copper washer came with it... Should I use the new washer in addition to the one that stays on the bolt, or leave it off?

Default I normally replace the bolt as well. There are two different styles...

The bolt with the washer that's attached and the two that are independent of each other.

I'd thought that almost all of them were the attached type at this point...

Default Just reuse the bolt with the existing washer - don't use both - the existing bolt/washer is

a reusable plug. I've reused mine 3 times so far.

Default I think they call it a "captive washer"

and as mentioned, don't use both.
