Default Could be several things...>>>

If you're lucky it's the oil cooler. It's a water jacketed part that mounts above the oil filter. These have a history of failing although only several have on this forum, some repeatedly. The VW guys have reported more... It looks like this:

and mounts here above the oil filter:

It's almost unheard of to have a head gasket failure on these cars and some of us are running high boost. If you've ever put anything besides G12 in the cooling system, you may get some sludge deposits that look like oil in the expansion tank. This happened to me after putting in Water Wetter. You may want to have the dealer pressure check the system which will isolate the problem...

Default Probably OK to drive..>

Let them do the pressure checks. Fluid over 2 years old? Probably a flush in order...

Default ok..

i just purchased the car, im assuming the fluid is old, and when they changed the oil they must have topped off the fluid with something other than the right type of fluids. how much was the part? what do you think this job will run? thanks for the help ... i think you saved my life because i was just about to have a heart attack...

Default Very likely..>>

They put the wrong stuff in if they don't know VW's/Audi's. As my tech said, mixing anything with the pink G12 will cause it to turn to "mush". Plan on a flush though and that will run $60-70 along with a refill of new g12 fluid...

Default thank you

Thank you so much, I have never had a response from anybody in my life so fast. Until Monday she's going to sit in the garage. Honestly, thanks for everything... I am a webdesinger/graphic artist, if you ever want to revamp your site, or make a new one...I am more than willing to help out... once again, thanks for saving me from a trip to the ER.
