I couldn't find a step-by-step on this forum but found this on Vortex for a MK4 Jetta (should be the same as my FWD).

Where would I get the 30mm triple square socket to remove the axle nut?

Also I assume the gear puller will remove the bearing hub assembly from the stub axle. Can this be rented from Autozone or other parts store?

Replace mk4 rear wheel bearing and hub assembly

Default LOL. It's not a XZN (triple square) socket...

it's a standard 30mm twelve point socket.

Leave it to a Vortexer to get it wrong. I don't think XZN sizes even go above 16mm.

Get one anywhere with a decent tool selection, including Sears.

Handing this TT over to a relative that will pay me monthly payments. I am trying to get things fixed as much as possible before handoff. Mazda is nice but I am not 100% sold on it yet. Right now I dont have a replacement car in mind.

Default Financing a relative?

Never a good idea. Good luck with that!

No Kiding!!! Can you say lifetime warranty? At least that's what said relative will probably expect, or stop paying the first issue they run into. I sold my Z3 to my sister in law and after a year she told me how I ripped her off because the current value was less than she paid a year ago. No kidding! What really sucked is that I sold her the car for less than market value, it was spotless and it had 3 more years on the CPO. Never again!!!
