One outing today resulted in one funny comment from a tech and one pwn't S2000 (sorry, Ed)....

I got home from work today about 11:30, and in Missouri, in order to renew your tags, you have to have 2 inspections, a safety inspection and an emissions inspection. There's an emissions inspection place that's not the closest to me, but it's kind of in a rural area that has a fun road to drive on, so I opted for that one.

On the way, it's a 4 lane road w/ a 60 mph speed limit. I was coming off a stop sign and from a side road, a red S2000 merges in front of me. 2 guys in it, and I see the passenger turn to the driver and point to my car. I knew what this meant. Well, I was going about 45 in third gear when the S2000 decided to take off.

Now, I don't know much about them or their performance, other than that they are probably pretty quick....so, I don't know if this guy just wasn't driving well, or if he was in the wrong gear or what, but, when he started to take off, I just mashed my pedal in 3rd and I immediately started creeping up on his bumper, enough that when I got to 4th, I pulled into the left lane and strolled on by him, much to his amazement. I backed off, not wanting to get too crazy, and he pulled up next to me, and through the noise of the wind, I heard him say, "Dude, there's NO WAY that thing is stock...." I just smiled and shrugged my shoulders, and gave him a nice thumbs up. As he pulled away, his buddy was just shaking his head.

OK, so I get to the inspection place and the tech has to pull it into the bay. He gets in, and as he starts to pull up, he stalls it. He restarted it and as he gets to the spot where he needs to stop, he obviously wasn't used to the brakes because the car just lurched to a HUGE stop like he was trying to avoid hitting a nun in the road....He gets out and says, "Wow...I'm not used to the big brakes in these 80 thousand dollar cars....." LOL.

Nice kill and story

of course the proper response is "Well today only I'll let you have this $80k car for just $70k". Then go buy two more.

lol $80k, nice...

I always have people think my car is brand spanking new and cost a fortune. Their jaw drops when I tell them it's an '01 and I paid less than the price of a new Accord.

And, what's with the whole sweet tea thing, anyways??

We were in Mississippi on the way to Louisiana for a wedding and stopped in and asked for non-sweet tea. The server looked at us like we had 3 heads...."Y'all want BITTER tea???"....

TTschwing 02-24-2006 02:00 PM
