For one who just absolutely has to have a TT right now, a dealer called me with an offer (more)
most people would refuse (unless you just have to have a TT right this minute and are willing to pay the price).
Denim Blue with Blue leather, all options sans phone, 1700 miles...$36,995 but will 'sacrifice' for $36K "before close of business day tomorrow 12/18/99."
Dealer is in Colorado Springs: 719-575-7944
BTW, it is NOT quattro, it is a FWD ($33,925 sticker + $2,075 for giving someone else the pleasure of driving it for 1700 miles).

Or at least there was about a week or so ago. Call Sean Petty at Thoroughbred Motorcars at 615-385-1900. He's my salesman for my TT Roadster coming in next spring, and is a most capable salsperson. He told me of the silver TT at $33,900, but said that price was certainly negotiable.
