Default orangeTT ... the new mayor of Forumville. Please make these commercials stop. (a rant)

I feel this sense of overwhelming rage everytime I see the new Dodge Ram commercials. You know the ones where Aerosmith's in the background and the tagline for the commercial is "Dodge Ram ... The New Mayor of Truckville."

WTF?!?!??

What advertising exec. could seriously see something like come across his/her desk and not immediately fire whomever sent it to him? My question is: what other ad. campaign ideas lost out to this? You mean *this* was the cream of the crop? It just irritates me that a huge international corporation actually thinks I'm stupid enough for an ad this ridiculous to sell me on anything. Let alone something I'd need to invest over $25K+ in.

Yeah I know they're selling to an entirely different demographic than, say, the new A4 is marketed at. And this is of course a demographic that I'm not a part of. But seriously ... even trying to put myself in the shoes of someone interested in buying a new pickup, I have a difficult time imagining that this would "sell" me.

[end rant]

Default I don't know about Dodge, but whatever Chevy is doing to sell Avalanche is working

in Jacksonville. They are popping up as THE work truck of choice.

People seem to like it. But I do agree w/ you. A degree, a winner does not make.

Default O% financing....It's over, they'll be stacking up on the lots soon....

What an over priced piece of crap. Ever ride in a wagon with the back open? Can you say exhaust fumes?

Default Cut 'em a break. Remember, they're trying to sell something to people who ...

aren't tough enough to drive a Tacoma.

Go test drive a Dodge Ram, that'll help.

Default I'll bet they're hitting their target market square in the face and reaping millions...obnoxious...

as it may be to most of us. :-)

And the easier it "cuts through" the rest of the clutter, the more they can save on buying airtime....but you know that, right?
