OT: Computer help needed.
Hi there. Hopefully someone can help me. Recently I received a spam e-mail and not paying attention, I opened it and it took me to a gambling site. My problem now is that I noticed that a link to the site now shows up in my favorites and I can't get rid of it. I delete it and it shows back up everytime I turn the computer back on. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

there's probably something in your Startup, or they might have changed your home page...
there's actually a few things they could have done. check your Startup folder and your 'home page' (set in your browser preferrences), if neither of these things contain something suspicious, then grab a friend who knows abotu computers and have him/her take a look at it.

How did you try to delete it?
If you right clicked on the unwanted favorite without success, you may want to try deleting through windows explorer.
Try this: Start/Programs/Windows Explorer
Open the IE file then open your favorites folder. Highlite the unwanted item in favorites then delete.
It is possible that you will have the same result but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work, ObsessTT's advice is good. You might also find the answer at TechTV. They have a good library of freeware and shareware with plenty of utilities for adding and deleting programs. Check out TweakUI also.

They have a program either in your startup, registry, or INI files
...that re-adds the bookmark every time you restart IE. I don't know exactly how you get rid of it. Search google.com on 'persistant favorites IE' and see what happens.

Make sure all your internet cache is clear and your cookies too!
Delete everything in the temporary internet files, don't just do it through your browser. Also delete all your cookes in c:\windows\cookies
