OT post for Italstalker any other photog artsy types
doing some side work blding a web site for a friend's church
they cant afford to hire a pro photog, so i gotta take the pics
i want to catch expressions, movement, of people as they worship. use as page graphics and elswhere
any tips
my camera like 3 mp which will work fine for web graphics

You probably want to use a camera with some reach...
Digital SLR with tele like 180mm - 200mm or point & shoot with more than 3x optical zoom.
In my area you can rent this stuff pretty cheap so that may be an option without spending too much $$.
Also, I'm assuming you are inside:
* i wouldn't use a flash given that audience
* properly set your white balance for the ambient light
* tripod / mono pod will help reduce camera shake
* use a small f/stop number to compress the depth of field (adds emphasis on the main subject)
* take a lot of shots -- helps when picking the best ones
