Default OT: Steve Irwin (the Crocodile Hunter) was killed yesterday :-(

The news this morning said that he was stung directly in the heart by a stingray's barb and died on the spot. I'm saddened to hear this news. He was an interesting and entertaining person, not to mention the positive impact he had on wildlife and preservation.

Default Just read the article (see attached). Steve was a great guy and a real >>>

breath of fresh air in a stuffy society! He will be sorely missed! <ul><li><a href="http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20349888-2,00.html">What a tragedy! </a></li></ul>

Default That sucks...

That really sucks. He was a pretty unique guy and certainly didn't give a crap about what people thought of him.

Very sad. A passionate advocate for wildlife management and a person who lived a full life.

Default Hmmm ... I wonder how long before that video hits the net ...

I hope it doesn't.

Default That IS sad, although not entirely unexpected...

I just wish this guy exercised a little more caution in his passion for nature's dangerous creatures. All too often you'd see him saying "Hey! Look at this amazing creature in my hands that, with one bite, will kill you in about 5 minutes!!", all the while standing in a place many hours from the nearest hospital.

But yes, he was one of the most amazingly entertaining people I've ever seen in nature documentaries. Definitely to be missed... deep condolences to his wife Terri. :-(

I think next time I go SCUBA diving in a place like Australia, I'm going to wear a Kevlar vest!
