Damn! This always happens to me. I find a company with a good product, then they go public.
Garmin: great GPS products, family and American run. Went public in December. Offshore interests now control the company. Wait and see on more buys of their products.
Klipsch: Hand made American built speakers. Decided to go public. Made motions to do so but changed it's mind. In the process attracted big business with $$$. Now Klipsch speakers are mass produced. Still great, though.
Now Peet's. Best coffee I have ever brewed in my house. Love it. Now Starbucks gets to buy a 51% stake. Grrrrrr.....

Doesn't Stabucks already own a controling interest in Peet's?
Sad, but I believe it's true...can anyone confirm or deny this? Given the (long) history between the two companies, it puts an ironic twist on things. Sigh. Well, at least the IPO means there's a chance in hell a Peet's will open up in my neck of the woods (DC), so I can stop flying out to Berkeley to get my dose!

They decided to go ahead with this when they got their first order from me last week...
...they've heard about my reputation for buying stuff off the internet and realize that they can now comfortably keep their business afloat.
