Default Other ideas aside from the Big turbo upgrade, what do you guys think?

Yesterday posted a thread in regards to popping in a Big turbo upgrade and what you guys thought. Thanks for all the responses I appreciate it. Unfortunately, my dilemma is that an upgraded turbo upgrade costs so much along with needed extras that it leaves just about nothing for other important parts like brake upgrades, intercooler, ect. I dont want to have 300hp with stock brakes or a stock 180 IC.

So for roughly the equivalence in price as a big turbo upgrade here are my other ideas if I was to do them all together:
-3.2 front bumper
-forge FMIC
-upgraded clutch and lightweight flywheel
-haldex race
-upgraded front and rear sway bars
-ECS 1st level Porsche big brake upgrade front or ECS front big brake upgrade, ECS rear big brake upgrade

what do you guys think? Big turbo or something along these lines? Give or take either way I go

FYI for my current upgrades (again, yes I need a sig!):
-bilstein sports
-H+R sport springs
-H+R 8/15mm spacers
-HR phoenix 18"s
-Toyo T1S 235/40/18s
-APR 93 chip
-samco turbo intake hose
-superinsulated TTDA
-Turn2 crank pulley
-forge exhaust
-gieselgeek ultra SS
-raffi race III

Default IMO it depends what you're going for>>>

if you want a car that's just fast, then go for the big turbo...

but if you want a well-done car that has some visual mods and is well-sorted overall, then get the other mods instead of the turbo upgrade...

personally, I would do all the other stuff instead of the turbo upgrade, mainly because just having the turbo upgrade probably wouldn't keep you satisfied for very long. also, i think that most of the other stuff would be pretty important if you did get the turbo...

Default I agree>>

Being a member of the 180 club. I'd get the turbo. after FMIC and Exhaust. the turbo will be on order.

Default Thats exactly what I was thinking...

Granted I'd love to throw in a big *** turbo and push myself up to 300 or so, however if my budjet is exhausted at this point and I cant cover the other important issues then I will just have a fast *** car that cant handle the power. What good is that?
So I was thinking all of these other upgrades that will improve the car as a whole while still improving upon performance. I think upgrading to a FMIC and new clutch and lightweight flywheel will defintitely increase performance. So this might be my direction, at least at the moment

Default is this the 6k post? imo, upgrade the turbo >

instead of the damn bumper (and yes, I want one too...). You don't need to go whole-hog on the turbo - your setup looks good, especially with the other stuff you're thinking about. If you need to make another cut, put the fmic on hold *for a while*, and get yourself a downpipe for the turbo. Add a boost machine too. you can get both - installed - for half the cost of the fmic.

Yes, and look into getting an fmic made locally--that could cut the cost in half.

Default FMIC???

Why throw $1400 for FMIC (FMIC + New 225 intake manifold) for about 9-14hp? I would do this as my last mod. The gain is so small I only added one because I got it for so cheap off a lease return. On the GIAC dyno we only saw 9hp gain, granted it should be more efficient on the open road but if so then maybe +5hp. One mod not many people mention, but if you're going to increase HP this much I would look into an Oil Cooler to shed some heat. On a 225 (lower compression) that's driven hard you will see a temp rise; with your planned turbo conversion I would think you will be battling heat for power loss and engine failure.

Default considering the brake's on TT's are better than average, go for BIG TURBO

i mean 180HP isnt that much for that heavy of car... 300HP wouldnt be to powerful for stock brakes in my eyes, get a custom FMIC made, and a muffler shop can make a turbo back fairly cheap i would assume. not trying to be cheap here, but if you want the turbo kit get it, and just cut corners on little of importance things ex. Instead of $2500 APR turbo back pay minikie or monroe like $450 for one its all the same just whos names on it in my eyes...

Default my thoughts>>

1. have you ever tried to brake hard more than once within a couple minutes? the brakes are great on the first stop then they REALLY suck on subsequent stops...

2. good luck finding a shop to make you a turbo-back exhaust for $450...it's pretty tough to have a cat-back made for that much (unless you're looking for a crush-bent, POS exhaust).
