Default Over sensitive accelerator

My accelerator pedal has become very sensitive and seems to over-react to slight on or off pressure.

Anyone else seeing anything similar?

Default Re: Over sensitive accelerator

Our TT's overly-sensitive throttle was felt to be a vacuum leak involving the oxygen sensor. It was also discovered that the turbo was producing only .3 plus bar, not .7 at full boost as normal. A new turbo was ordered from Germany, has arrived and will be installed Wednesday. The dealer inspected and checked all connections while downloading reams of code. No new or repeat fault codes have appeared, and the car drives much smoother than before. Dealer wants to re-check the codes after the new turbo goes on, and has cautioned that (prior to replacing the turbo) they are not sure the "problem" will be a thing of the past. They originally suspected a vacuum leak and the oxygen sensor (a similar problem they found with a very early delivered FWD TT) and the technician started there. The throttle position sensor(s) are another possible gremlin.
I'll post the results after the new turbo goes on. So far, the TT drives like a 120hp jetta...a very good-handling one, just not particularly quick.

I read in the automotive publications that the electronic (drive by wire) throttle algorithm of the 1.8T exaggerates intitial throttle tip-in, to minimize the impressions of turbo lag. I hope that your problem isn't as bad as the one described by the fellow below.

Default I don't think this will help, but it's worth a try (more)

When I picked up my TTQ, I spoke to one of the mechanics. He said that the cpu "learns" driving habits. If most of the time when you depress the gas pedal, you floor it, the system will learn to anticipate it. He said that every once in a while I should wait for ten seconds after turning the key to the ignition position before engaging the start position. That allows the cpu to recycle and reset itself. You probably have a more serious problem, but it's worth 10 seconds of your time to check.
