OverHeating Issue
I am new to this forum but I am having trouble with my TT overheating and hoped someone on here may be able to help.
I own a 2001 Audi TT Quattro 225 HP coupe version. The car has 143K miles and ran great until about 2 weeks ago. My cluster was also malfunctioning, the tach didn't work, fuel guage was way off and temp was always reading one notch higher than it should be.
Out of no where driving home, the temp gauge needled pegged and the warning light came on. The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 100K and the thermostat was replaced at 110K.
I started out by replacing the thermostat but that was not the issue and the original was not bad (tested in boiling water). Next i put it on a diagnostic machine and got the code for the engine coolant temp sensor which i then replaced.
None of this seemed to have any effect on the overheating issue. I sent the gauge cluster out and had it rebuilt hoping it was just a false alarm. Upon installing the cluster, it is still running only 1 notch below the H.
I'm going to replace the waterpump and timing belt today. If that doesn't fix the issue, what else could it be? I'm at my wits end with it. To be honest i'm running out of patience, ideas and money to make this work like it should. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
