Default Overheating question...

Coming home today outside temp 85 degrees. At steady 70MPH flashing red temp warning lights up and gauge is pegged to right. I pop on heat to high and cut speed to 45 to get some water. Temp gauge with heat on at idle stays at normal. Coolant level is normal. Temp gauge with heat on under load goes back to H. No coolant fan at all throughout.
Is it water pump, thermostat, or cooling fan?

Default I've gone through 2 water pumps >>

keep your fingers crossed that's not it.
it's the price of a timing belt to replace.

when did you have your timing belt done? was the pump done then as well?

Default might want to do it sooner than later >>

does the coolant resevoir recycle when you hit the gas? (ie. look in the engine bay and have someone hit the gas for you)

Default Can you recommend a place to order the pump and belt from?

...besides the dealership. I was going to have them replaced at the same time.

Default Re: Overheating question...

My guess would be the thermostat. Is the hose leaving the radiator much cooler that the other hoses?
