Default Pedal stopper mod... I'm not convinced yet.

I built one of the adjustable stoppers last week. Nice, easy, cheap mod-I definitely liked that. But I will say, after a week of driving and adjusting it, I don't know if I can really tell a difference. My concern is that if I keep it down there, I'll always be wondering if it's set right, am I getting all the acceleration I should be, etc...

It's messing with my mind!

Default from what I understand of how our TTs run, the pedal stopper mod is a placebo

the "acceleration" effect only occurs when you come off the gas - it is an artifact of the drive-by-wire system.

Default I don't think that's quite right...

the way I understand it, the ECU runs in closed loop mode on default maps when at WOT. by pressing all the way to the edge but not quite WOT, the ecu runs off open loop mode and adaptive maps. The adaptive maps are more efficient as they have adjusted to the cars setup. the default maps are "safe" for WOT. so the stopper mod makes sense to me, but I have yet to do it. I'd rather make the adjustment myself.

Correct. No placebo. Default maps at WOT are protective measure.

Default i think it depends on each car, software, and environmental conditions...

...my car hated the stopper mod. it's wants to be to the floor. but then again, i'm not sure what happens once another it's chipped. perhaps other chips are different. i'm not even sure if they can control this. but i know my car. it rarely goes in that ill map at WOT. usually it will do it if i go WOT and let off very slightly then WOT it again.

Default True true...>

Actually on my car I can see the transition to WOT maps easily on the A/F gauge I have. It happens way before full throttle, but boost and fuel requirements will make this different on all cars..

Default you may be right. I will have to double check my info source before I make a false argument ;-)

but agreed on the WOT protective measure -

(so as not to appear cagey) the reason I believe the mod is a placebo is that our cars can be at WOT w/o the pedal fully depressed. [I think the number was 85% or greater]
Let me dbl check on that statement first...there is a chance that my understanding is not perfect.

Default yeah that was what i was referring to in my last post.

it is little crazy things like this phenomenon that makes our cars difficult to tune (at the ecu level).
