Peeing contest on Mk-II forum. Question inside

Hello all, this is a narrow question.

Have any of you had any warranty issues or repair problems because your car was chipped?

Thanks. A lot of people want to know.

Revo for two years, no problems.

Never. Even forgot to turn it off most of the time.

Had my turbo replaced under warranty even after telling them it was chipped

No problems, lots of warranty work done on my TT.

Depends on the Dealer

Sonnen has told me the computers are now tied back to Audi in Germany. If they detect mods. warranty repairs are denied by Audi.

Since I am unmodded I have not been turned down, but the dealer has told me that some have been.

ummm. can't they tell anyway?

even if you have a stock program (and i'm probably very, very wrong on this) can't they tell the car has been chipped because of the extended memory module associated with it (early cars apply only i guess) and because the memory that SHOULD be empty on the older models has data?

Just a thought, i might (probably am) totally wrong on this..

The only thing that broke under warranty...

was the alternator, and it was replaced with no problems. At the time, visible mods on the car included exhaust, suspension, FMIC, and brakes. I'm sure they could guess that it was chipped, but the local dealer doesn't seem to mind. I dunno what their attitude would be if I brought it in with a cooked turbo, though.

Isn't that answered by the Magnusson-Moss Act? I haven't read through it in a while, but here's a link.
