Default The perfect recipe for some tail out fun >>>

The Ingredients
---------------
2004 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro DSG
Blue Haldex HPP
22mm NS rear sway bar
Bilstein PSS9s
1" lower rear
0.75" lower front
Front damping @ 7
Rear Damping @ 8
Front tire pressure at 38 psi
Rear tire pressure at 34 psi
Front camber: 0.97 deg/0.94 deg negative (even toe)
Rear camber: 1.67 deg/1.64 deg negtive (3/32" tot toe in)
DEFCONs from the Modshack

What we have here ladies and gentlemen is a true concoction for sheer tail out fun (on a track of course).

I was at Summit Point for 2 days this past weekend and went in with these settings and realized that the steering was just there to get into a turn. After that, my steering was my right foot and the throttle pedal :-) Minor modulations resulted in fairly dramatic adjustments from the rear of the car- not the fastest way to get around the track when you drift every turn, but a ton of fun.

Over the course of the 2 days I was able to dial out the oversteer and bring it to a more neutral state by ratcheting up the rear damping to 4 (stiffer), raising the rear tire pressure by 2 psi (36) and lowering the front by 1psi (37). It was amazing how the car's behavior could be altereed by very simple adjustments ...

BTW, I went in with brand new strut bushings and bearings. Checked yesterday night (was getting the binding noises again) and noticed that the passenger side was quite squished and the driver side some as well ... any ideas if there are better HD alternatives out there?

Pal

PS - We need more TTs out there guys ... its hard carrying the burden all by myself

Default not a lot of choices for strut bushings>>>>

camber plates are an option...but they firm things up a lot....

Default Tx Hans. Not sure if I am ready for metal bushings on the camber plates just yet >>>

as this is my daily commuter ... it is pretty stiff already driving into the s**tty roads of Jersey City.

That being said, the VWMS bushings are one option, but not sure of the longevity on those.

Default I've got a set of these on the way... SPC front camber kit for MK4 Vdub

It appears to have a compliant strut bushing, so the ride penalty should be minimal. I'm hoping they ride OK, and are less squishy than the OEMs... I don't really need the camber correction, I'm just looking for the perfect bushing...
I'll report after I've tried 'em.

What is the VWMS bushing? got a link?

Default VWMS = Volkswagon Motor Sport is a stiffer rubber stock bushing and it's hard to find

there have been mixed results - some say they get binding due to it being so stiff - others have reported no real problems and only limited increase in harshness. I'm in need of a new set so I'm open to suggestions as well.

Default I had to scroll down so far to enter a reply, I almost forgot what I wuz gonna say... ;) Oh yeah

BOOST *kinda* fixes the torquelessness. Goe's like a scalded cat once you're in boost. It's amazing on the track. Fast, controlable oversteer, etc... but insurance doesn't cover the HPDE's anymore. So, the S2K is retired from track service. After spending the equivalent of the National dept on roll bar, seats, harness', supercharger, etc etc etc... I hate the State Farm. Fockers.

Going alright out here. The car's been covered for several weeks. Seeing if I can do without it. May part out this winter and take another sabatical from cars. Dunno yet.

Looks like The Roach revival is going well. Looking sinister. I like the wing.
