Plastic Rings?

'The silver studded rings around the gauges for
instance, are plastic.'
Noted in the Audi newsgroup...is this correct?

Correction....around the gauges are silver painted plastic rings...(more)

...a very nice touch, since no one seems to be able to tell the difference!
