Porter-Cable, convice me that I really need it.

Properly maintained paint shouldn't warrant the use of any machine but..
there are some things a random orbit or direct drive buffer can do that won't work well by hand. Taking out scratches, leveling clear, buffing out of a wet sand, etc. If you've never used a machine on your paint def. start with a good random orbit like the pc...a direct drive unit is fatal in the hands of somebody without experience. However, if you've kept your paint clean and hand polished then you really don't *need* one. However, maybe you're just looking to save time when polishing...in that case get it.
Wasn't trying to convice you but just ramble away about some of the uses/reasons for such a piece.

RB-100 Ryobi. Home Depot. $24.95 "Cheap, Type Random Orbit Machine", RobbyTT
Yes, it's 1/4 the price of the PC, but for what I use it for, both cars, it works great.
