Default Bought a 2006 Audi TT 225 in Dolomite Gray...except that it's really Lava Gray Pearl?

I recently purchased a 2006 Audi TT 225 which the seller said was Dolomite Gray. I thought it was strange cause the color looked darker than what it appeared to be online but today I started painting a 3.2 front bumper I purchased with Dolomite gray and it didn't look the same at all. I tried originally looking at the sticker in the trunk for the paint code but it's in bad shape and hard to understand so I just ordered by description (which Dolomite Gray is LZ7J) and that didn't work well at all. So today I took a picture of the paint code and edited it to try and make it out the code is LZ7L. This appears to be Lava Gray Pearl, which apparently was never an option for the TT. I looked at pictures of Audi A3's and Q7's in Lava Gray Pearl and sure enough, the color is identical, but for the life of me I can't find a single Audi TT in this color. Why is that?

My VIN is TRUWT28N461008396 if anyone wants to scrutinize it. Color Code is LZ7L.

Did Audi have Audi Exclusive colors back in 2006? Already did a few mods to it as you can see.

Dolomite LZ7J/6H was the only gray offered in North America for the 2006MY. There were a few special editions worldwide but no grays. Audi exclusive was not an option in 2006. Was it originally a euro car? Carfax would tell. The more likely explanation is 14 years of color fade, not a special paint.

It wasn't a euro car and while I agree that Dolomite Gray would make sense the option sticker in the truck of my car says LZ7L which is Lava Gray. 14 years of paint fade wouldn't change the sticker code.

By the way, it's been confirmed by Audi. My car was in fact ordered under the Audi Exclusive program which is why it has the color it has. Cool!

Interesting!

Also, nice brakes. What are the plans for the TT?

I got the brakes done along with most of the suspension (cayenne z17 front calipers, V6 brake rotors, st st coilovers) and now I'm getting ready to swap out the front bumper for an s-line front bumper (painted it today). On order I have a pagparts turbo kit with a 42DD exhaust. Going to try out the new Garrett G30-770 turbocharger. For now I'll run it at low boost (20-ish psi). Once I get the funds to build the engine and transmission up, I'll boost it to 30-35psi in hopes to put down over 600whp. This, plus lighten the car to 3000lbs or less (I've already taken over 140lbs off and still have way more to go). Should make a fun ride.
