potential electirical problems, 2001 Audi TT 225 ?
I have the chance to pick up an 2001 Audi TT 225 for around 26 but the problem is that it has been flooded. It was not submerged in water but it was around the floor level. I was told that the wires in the floor might need some sort of lubricant on them. Everything in the car was working, from the instrument panel to the ac. The guy who is selling said there might be some other electrical problems but he has not found any. From what I have said is it worth it to buy the car and take care of whatever electrical problems there might be, or is it too much of a risk? Everything else on the car was in new condition. <9k mileage

I would not recommend purchasing a salvage title vehicle...
If you want to sell it someday, forgetaboutit! Plus, it may be rightously f-ed up. If it isn't, I doubt the price you'd pay justifies the risk you'd take, as the initial depreciation hit on TTs can be pretty substantial (i.e. you're going to get a good deal on a "pre-owned" TT as it is without having to accept the risk of buying a salvaged vehicle).
Of course the seller is going to try to minimize the damage to unload the car. I'd say don't do it. If you're on a budget, check Auto-Traitor and you will likely find a used TT at a very reasonable price, and it won't have the salvage title albatross.

The only type of salvage vehicle not to buy......
is a flood vehicle. They always have problems that will not go away, and every year you will be chasing a new problem. Furthermore, the car won't have a warranty as it was probably revoked by Audi once the insurance company totalled the vehicle out.
Those are just a few things to consider.

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for...
I bought a used 2000 TT. I am very happy with it so far. I looked at many on AutoTrader.com & checked their condition with carfax before actually looking at the car. It's about $20 & you can check all the cars you want. If you buy a car from the original private owner you have a better chance at a fair deal for a good car. Good luck

Hi, sorry I'm late. Is it a silver 225 coupe? Give me the vin number and I'll tell you
if it's my old car. If it is, don't buy it. My car was flooded up to the dashboard, and sat in high water for 3 days before I could get it out.
Run away, run away!
