Powdercoating RS4 Wheels
#2
i've heard that wheels are not supposed to go through the powdercoat process
due to the heat for curing. i have a set from a UrS4 that were powdercoated, they have been fine.

Absolutely true. I spoke to my wheel repair guru about doing this to a set of factory aluminum
wheels that I have and he said it wasn't safe to do. I'm not a metallurgist, but believe it has some effect on the (tempering?) / strength of the metal. He said that the temps required to cook the powdercoating on the wheels exceeded what was safe to subject the aluminum to.
You'd be much better off to have them painted professionally. AND... make sure they're clear coated, that's what makes them durable.
