Problem with a misfiring engine under heavy acceleration...180TT FWD with Revo I get misfiring
between 2000 rpm to 3300 or so rpm if I dive deep into the pedal. Happens everytime. Engine misfires and stumbles. Had the engine light come on twice (blinking) and go out after a few more minutes of normal driving. I put it back into stock mode and I cannot seem to get it to do it, but have not really tried over a period of time in stock mode. I have put it back into stock mode taken it to the dealer and they see the missfire codes and an 02 sensor fault...so they replaced the 02 sensor yesterday. Picked up the car, I reflashed the ECU to performance mode and the problem was still there as bad as ever. Anyone have any ideas. I do not want to just take the car in with the Revo on and have them figure it out...

A MAF running lean (which could have caused the 02 fault). Ever go into limp mode? We could figure this out if you had access to a VAG. Dealer won't often check everything they should...

coilpacks and/or sparkplugs >>
when I pushed my car hard it would do the same thing. But under normal driving it would not misfire. Failing coilpacks and bad sparkplugs were the culprit. How many miles?

No VAG, I was guessing it had to be the MAF as I am on #3 and when those were replaced they made the
comment about it running lean. No limp mode, but it has flashed the engine light as I said. Since I am not mechanically inclined how does the MAF and/or engine running lean contribute to the missfiring?

If the MAF signal is low, it's telling the ECU not much air is coming though, hence not as much fuel is needed....There are 2 adaptation channels..Idle and part throttle which is in effect most of the time...This will gradually ratchet up, trying to compensate (it gets more info downstream from the 02 sensor). until it runs out of adjustment range. Maybe, just maybe, the 02 sensor was the issue and the adaptation maps will gradually come back in line. The only way to clear them and start from "0" is a Battery or ECU disconnect. I'm sure the dealer didn't do that...
