Default Problems gassing up

I picked up my new Audi TT roadster last week and took it to the gas station after the gasoline pump icon came on. When I tried to add fuel the auto shut off mechanism at the pump kept coming on, shutting off the gas flow. After numerous tries I was only able to get 1/4 tanks worth pumped, then gas started flowing out from the bottom of the car. I thought that was a good time to stop pumping! My dealer is closed today, and I wanted to find out if this has happened to anyone or if I am making some gross newbie mistake. (Yes, I took the black plastic cap off, and yes I tried a second pump.) Any comments will be appreciated.

Default I recall a post way back on a similar problem. Perhaps you could try a seach?

Sorry I can't help.

Hate to ask, but did you push the gas pump nozzle deep into the little gated center hole in the top of the neck fill area? If not, then gas is running out the overflow at top.

If not that, then definitely take it to the dealer and tell us what happened.

Good luck.

Default That happened to me when I first got my car...

I think that it must be pilot error, because it only did it when I first got the car, but hasn't since.

Nice forum name

Aren't you Surf4TT, or did your experience last week swear you off TT names for good?

Went to the dealer. At first dealer replaced the fuel filler hose, tried to gas up, and had the same problem I had. Now the dealer is replacing the entire gas tank. According to the dealer this is a '1 in a million' problem. This isn't the sort of lottery I was hoping to win...Hopefully this will end well and quickly. I'll report back.

Tell dealer you didn't realize they had sold a million TTs already.
