Default Problems with the TT?

Hi,
I was wondering if there was any question about reliability for the turbo's in the TT. Also, any fit and finish problems? The other cars I've looked at, the acura cl-type S and the IS300 seem to have fit and finish problems....I dont want that...how's teh quality of the TT and other audi's in general? Anything else important I should know before buying?

Also, is the 180hp version lighter than the 225hp one? (both quattrO) Is there anything the 180hp version does better than the 225hp one? thanx

Default answers . . .

The fit and finish is outstanding! The Turbo so far from what I know has not been a problem. The 1.8t engines have been around for a few years and are millions in production. They are about as bullet proof as are made nowadays.

The differences between the 180 and 225 has been documented quite thoroughly, go down this page about half-way and also back a few pages.

The 180 is lighter than the 225 by about 150 pounds +/-

the 180 is lighter also because it does not have the Quattro system.<p>2001

Default Re: Problems with the TT?

I just got word back from dealer that the little metallic noise I hear when shifting from 1st to 2nd is indeed the turbo and not the transmission as initially diagnosed. They have to completely replace the turbo. I have less than 9500 miles on my 180FWD, so hopefully it's only a one-time fluke.

Default The 180 TT's have this problem, as do the A4 and S4 . . .

it is not the engine, it is the part that Audi is using. Same part for all of the cars.
