Default PROTOTYPE- Boost Machine Blanket! >>>>

hehe...i like the ring of that. As most know with the rash of heat related incidents with TT's lately, and knowing the Norgren valves are subjected to quite a bit of heat, i decided to fabricate a simple "blanket" for the BM...

This is the material, government grade thermal sheet that obtained for a couple of projects, this being one of them...

So with minor trimming (which proved to be difficult with this material) i was able to create a rather rudimentary cover for the BM....

Some holes, and zip ties....and this is the end result....

<img src="http://images10.fotki.com/v203/photos/8/89907/2500773/DSC01075-vi.jpg">

I am not expecting any performance other than helping the valves to run cooler...I figured at this point every little bit helps. Also, looking at "potentially" coming up with a case, to cover the boost machine, and use thermal wrap to cover it...something a little prettier....

Installed with the TTDA

Also, per a discussion with the Boost Machine King, apparently early designs included wrapping the valves and hoses for just this reason, and a tiny bit more efficiency....

We shall see...overall it looks ok....gonna play with some designs too....

That's it...fun in the sun today! ;-)<ul><li><a href="http://public.fotki.com/TTinCT/tt_modifications-1/engine_mods/boost_machine_blank/">http://public.fotki.com/TTinCT/tt_modifications-1/engine_mods/boost_machine_blank/</a</li></ul>

Default That's a pretty good idea.....i'd be in support of some type

of cover that is insulated as it would probably look more aesthetically pleasing, but your mod is a great start!

Default nice Hans. like the OEM heat blankets, you should put snaps on them. you can

buy them from a sewing/material place and put them on yourself. also, make a pattern from it and you should be able to replicate it for others if you need to.

i also think that there should be some venting on top...almost like convection...so the hot air has someplace to escape and pass thorough....sometimes when doing a complete wrap may have its consequences as well...you may be possibly retaining heat as well. good luck with it...i think it is a great idea and start!

Now that you brought it up, I wonder if the BAMM should be insulated too?

Default nope...such a small area...plus if you have samco hoses, you shouldn't have to worry

about heat heats there.
