Need Input!!: Twice to replace Timing Belt?! Roof Recc's to others
Hi All!
First, does anyone know where I can get 2 ***** missing on the interior of my otherwise pristine 2001 Audi TT 225 hp convertible? Both are a snap-on: circular navigation button and the other is left side a/c dial button (I can send photos)?
MOST IMPORTANT: TIMING BELT - AGAIN? I'm having no problems with the car and just prepped it to sell (or NPO to keep as an almost classic car). The thing is - as I understand it - technically it's overdue for a 2nd timing belt replacement, maybe. Do you go on miles, years or performance? I replaced it early before (in part due to good advice on this forum!) in 2008 @ 68,607 miles. It's not 2019 and 113,000 miles. It runs beautifully, looks much younger than it's years (like its owner!lol) and I just stopped using it after running across a post indicating that I'm lucky the timing belt hasn't "suddenly" without warning broken and thus completely ruined the engine. Is this true? And, if so, it means I can't even test drive it to sell it!! Here in CA a timing belt repair quote just can in at more than 2 times what I paid in 2008 ($1380-$1600!!). GOSH I COULD REALLY USE SOME ADVICE.....Thanks in advance!
PS For those asking about roof repairs - my gar has been garaged the whole time so original roof is great. Some people have mentioned high $$$ to replace due to the glued window coming unstuck. Just take it to a classic & vintage car place and get it re-welted (combo of sewn and glued) if the roof is otherwise perfect (like mine). It's only a few $100 vs couple of $1000. (my effort to give back).

The prevailing wisdom is 5 years or 60K miles, whichever comes first
