Default Question for those who have done cross country trips

Via car, what routes did you take and which places would you recommend not missing?

Thanks

Four corner area and Monument Valley. (Where Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona meet.)

Default I'd recommend visiting Rocky Mountain National Park and Pike's Peak in Colorado.

...And do Pike's Peak the fun way: Drive it. Don't take the train...It's just nowhere near as fun.

Default Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, St. Louis arch, Texas Panhandle (NOT!)

I have made a few x-country trips. The route you take all depends on the destination and how much time you can allow for the drive.

Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, WELL WORTH the time.

If heading south, take I-10 through New Orleans towards Texas, great road through the bayou.

Try and drive across New Mexico, just beautiful!

Places to avoid if at all possible:

Oklahoma, Texas Panhandle(if possible), PA Turnpike.
