A question for those who have had problems with paint on roof
rails. This morning, while waxing the car, 2002 QC, I noticed that there is a VERY SLIGHT bubbling of the paint in the grove at the front of my passenger side roof rail. How has this been dealt with by your dealers? Do they replace it with a new painted one or just remove and repaint the old one? Is this part plastic or metal? (can it rust?)I'm the only one that will notice it and I don't want my dealer ripping it apart if the problem doesn't get worse. Thanks

The bubbles came stock since 1999. Never a problem.....
with mine. I think the strip is plastic (not sure) and the bubbles never have enlarged so I assumed they are just drips.

I had bubbles on on/near the rail >>
since I purchased the car in 2000. I was recently hosing the car down... and the paint stripped right off.
so... it HAS turned into a problem.

Contact Audi... This was a common problem on early TT's..
I had to replace one rail.. It was rusting from inside... AUdi was going to let the dealer fix it..but they would only send me to this crappy body shop that the dealership chain owned... I refused, these guys screwed up our dodge. I paid for it to be done @ a good friends shop.. $100 for the rail and few dollars for paint.. all in all was about $140 i think. I was also having other work done @ same time.. new front spoiler etc...
