Default quick...... someone come over and help me fig out how to fit a 4 post lift in my shop!

so i got a free 9,000 lb auto lift from a family member. only catch is i have to pick it up and install it in my shop in the next week. im not sure...... what to do, i have a 8' max right now in my shop.......but i have plenty of floor space..... guess ill have to use my lame CU teachings to draw up in cad a new rafter or 2 that will make me some more car head room...... then get ahold of some one to back chekc and make sure it will be load bearing enough to not kill me ahha....... oh boy oh boy... i got a new monster air compressor last month now a free lift...... oh and i got a free 95' golf last week also.......... quick..... did i die?... its something like this...... had a 6' under lift clearnace when up all the way. hum..... any other idea's how to fit this in my shop and be able to move a car up in the air more than 2'?

Nice, I couldn't make it work and ended up with a scissor lift.

Default nice... can't help with out how to get it in your shop(edited)....

but when you figure it out and want some help installing it i would be willing to help(since i'm kinda local,ft.collins) if i'm not too busy with school.

Default Depends on the span of the ceiling and how much space you have above it >

before you have to cut out the roof. Flat roof/metal deck, or standard pitched roof/wood frame? Or, second floor above?

Default have you thought about making a pit to get the room...

It would be worth it to get that lift in. Get someone over to jackhammer 3 or 4 feet out. It will work out great. you can do it!!!

Default haha.... i have to do that allready just to fit my truck in there w/ out hiting the winsheld..

on the door frame of the shop ahah....... w/ the lift my truck wont fit inside at all..

Default i do, but i dont plan to live here for more than 1 more year..... so id like to not spend money on

stuff that possible buyers may think is a bit too odd or something.....
