yes they are the best you can by, but I fully dispute your claim to bull$hit.
Try grabbing a metal **** when it's -15f outside... even after 30 minutes of warming up your car it's still sub zero.

I live in New England where the temps hit both extremes with an aluminum **** for 4yrs...
yes it does get hot and cold with the weather but I never had a problem shifting in summer or winter...guess I have tough hands ...and as I said I don't rest my hand on the shift **** either

But I don't want to grab an ice cold one. I would have to wear a glove on my right hand and that bugged me.
My climate is pretty severe, highs near or over 100 in the summer and humid, and -20f or colder in the winter. The hot was never a problem, but cold - yes.
Personal preference, perhaps. But don't call bull$hit on how I feel. You can't know that.
