Default Recall Question

I spoke with my Audi dealer just now and from what I understand, there are two recalls- the suspension, then the shocks and spoiler-

He said that many people opt not to have the suspension modified, but my question is- if they're giving the car softer shocks... does it affect cornering and handling significantly or...?

I ask because I like the look of the stock spoiler and I'm considering the recall, but the replacement of the shocks concerns me a touch.

Any info you folks could give me would be great, and thanks for all the questions you've answered for this TT noob so far.

Default Personally I'd skip the suspension part>>

the shocks don't matter as much as the fact that they're changing the sway bars and control arms. This will numb the steering feel and make the car even more prone to understeer (less neutral handling).

Either way the stock shocks are nothing special. I'd recommend enhancing your setup with a set of Konis or, if you must, Bilsteins. If you don't mind making the car a tad lower, a set of Eibach springs will tighten it up further.

Default That actually is the plan- I asked that they not touch the suspension

The guy even told me that some 50% of his customers with TTs request that it not be performed, but I'm wondering if the new shocks they would be replacing them with would affect handling that much...

Default The shocks won't affect handling much-- it's the sway bars and control arms>>>

just don't let them touch any of it. Get some good shocks like Konis or Bilsteins and be done with it.

Default So just to be sure- ask them to skip the suspension and just give the shocks and I'll be fine?

(They won't do the spoiler without the shocks)

I do plan to go with some konis, and I think I'll be getting Eibach springs soon too- by the end of summer I'm thinking.

Also- is it detrimental in any way to go with eibach springs for now and shocks in a month or two?

Default What about the REAR trailing control arm recall?

I think it is recall campaign "LL". If it has not been done, you need it, the control arm on older TTs can snap.

It has probably already been done.
