Default Removing muffler?

Has anyone here removed the rear muffler and left the stock resonator in place before? How did it sound? I was thinking of doing this and have the tips welded back up through a Y pipe at my local shop as a temporary exhaust until I got around to doing a proper catback. I'm in college so I can get away with it being on the loud side but I wanted to know what the tone would be like...

Default and if you want cheap, I bet you could just buy a Magnaflow muffler..

and have it welded on to the stock pipes... i'd guess that'd be less than $200?

Default I may be new but...

I'm pretty sure there is a resonator, in fact I just went and looked at it. I know many people have gone and had this removed for 60ish dollars and gotten a very mild improvement in sound. I just want to do the opposite. I will still be running stock cats and one resonator so I can't imagine it will blow my ear drums. I was really wondering if anyone had actually heard this...

Default actually I think you're right... oops

i'd probably cut the resonator out then, and leave the exhaust. haha

Default I have taken off the catback, and it is damn loud and i love it...

the only issue is going home late at night and driving for more than 15 minutes without earplugs is instant headache...any gear around 4k rpm is a giant noise i cannot describe inside your head.

its great..buy the earplugs

takes 2 people to get it off and a jack & jackstands took me about 15 minutes to get it off. then 20 back on by myself. try it out.

Default Well, Mine's 3" pipe, but that's basically all it is, a resonated center section. Pretty loud.

As Bob and anyone who's driven it can attest. Not an eardrum burster though ... just minor ringing. ;^)
