Removing the rear spoiler

Removing the rear spoiler
I had someone detail my car and they ended up burning the clear coat off the rear spoiler and now I have to have it repainted. Am I better off leaving it attached to repaint it or try and remove it? I've read some posts regarding taking off the spoiler and it seems to be difficult to separate it from the trunk due to the tape...and a possibility of having to repaint the trunk.
I was hoping to get some feedback and opinions...thanks.

If they tape it well, should be no problem leaving it on.
However, probably a good idea to remove it, paint it, and rebed it, as they tend to leak over time.
Use marine grade butyl tape

If it were me, I would take the spoiler off. throw it away..weld the holes shut, repaint the trunklid. Looks better as it is originally designed, sans spoiler. That will cost a lot to have done, however
