roof will not open

Default roof will not open

20051.8 tt roof will not open cant hear any noises and wind deflector has stopped working at the same time .no warning indicators. can any one plse help. many tks

Easiest thing first, check the fuse. You need to remove the trim panel under the steering column, 2 torx head screws down low near the pedals and another 1 or 2 that you remove from the main fuse box on the side of the dash. Look under there and you should see something like the picture below.

The 2 fuses at the bottom right are both 30 amp fuses, one for the convertible top and the other for the wind deflector.

The control module has several checks before sending power to open or close the top so you might check those out too. There is a switch at the top of the windshield to tell the control module if the top is latched or not. There are 2 switches to tell the computer if the top cover is in place. There is a signal from somewhere, probably the main ECU, that will prevent the top from opening or closing while the car is moving. I have read that there is a switch that will not allow the top to operate unless the emergency brake is on but that isn't true on my 01 TT, I can open and close the top without the brake on.

The wind deflector will not work if the top is up so if you can't put the top down it is logical that the wind deflector is not working.

Default Were is the switch that you said top of the windshield????

Were is that switch top of the windshield location???
