S4 owner seeks input: Spouse wants a TT coupe - your advice wanted...
Let me briefly introduce myself first. I've been around here (off and on, mostly off) since the late days of JET's A4 organization. I took delivery of a 1998.5 A4 2.8 quattro in December of '97, I waited several months after ordering the car. This was my first german car. I highly modified the car with a body kit and a PES supercharger before finally selling it to get an S4.
I got an opportunity to drive a 180 hp FWD TT coupe when my local dealer got it's first car in and made it a demo. I liked the car other than the rear was in need of quattro for weight/grip. More power, is always nice. Having said that, the car was smoother accellerating than I expected.
My wife would now like to have a TT coupe, no (convertible) Roadster for her. Quattro is a must have item we will not do without. She thought about the aviator grey with bue denim leather interior. Now she is leaning to silver with the blue denim interior. Any pictures/help in this area is also appreciated.
Now, onto the tougher issues! Currently we are considering either of two configurations, both with quattro and five speed. Either a 180HP car with audio package and the premium package or a 225HP car with no other bells and whistles than what already comes standard. So, what car do you think we should choose?
Also, can the 180HP car be chipped? If so, for how much more power and what chip is recommended? And finally, if you give your $.02, could you tell what car you have and if you have driven other configurations of the TT and how they were equipped?
I apologize in advance for not knowing the answers to some of these questions, but searching these forums is frustrating and difficult at times.
Thank you all.

Actually "Premium Package" has....
Heated front seats
Xenon headlights worth it just for these
17" 5 spoke forged wheel and "performance" tires
And, of course, you get the 6-speed gearbox standard on the 225.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/keyfob.jpg">

I would choose the 225hp in a heartbeat...
the 225 engine is smoother, the tranny is smoother and the power in significantly enhanced. I also think the twin intercoolers allow the car to perform better when it's hot and steamy outside. In both cars the A/C makes the launch in 1st gear somewhat annoying. Disclaimer-this is just my opinion (obviously). -Pete
