Seems like TTDA w/o Vanes is a little more powerful than a TTDA w/ the vanes in....is it me??

Default No.....Normal to experience that..>>
There's a lot of restriction in the vanes...:-)
TTDA flows smoothly enough so you can remove them..

Default I don't have a picture of the Vanes, but here is a picture of them NOT there:
