Should I go ahead and get a new T-stat when I get the T-belt job?

Mike, I've got a Behr in mine which runs warm, about 100C... question >>
it was installed by an independent shop I tend to trust and they say they only used Behr. So the question is, do I pull it myself later this spring and replace it with another (either a Behr or OEM from the dealer) or live with it... the temp needle lives between straight up and one mark to the right, running about 99C when not working much, sliding up to 101 or 102C when pushing (temps according to the HVAC readout). Temps are actually 1 degree lower when monitoring with my ProDiag.
Is it possible that they installed the t-stat inappropriately (like with the bracket horizontally rather than vertically) to account for it's sluggish opening?
TIA, ~john

Make sure you don't have air in the system.
And also check your coolant temp sensor, make sure you're running a green top version.
See if bleeding the system helps.
The OEM Behr and dealership models are identical should you decide to replace it.
The orientation of the bracket won't matter.

tstat has nothing to do with water pump replacement in terms of location.
BUT it is a good thing to get done. Mine has been stuck for the last 2-2.5 years and the dealer couldn't figure it out. With the help of this forum I was driven in that direction and after changing it out all of my problems went away. Car is boosting like a monster now.

Behr does not = Audi
Strange as it seems, many of us have had your symptom with a Behr replacement instead of the Audi part. Someone on this forum did an experiment and found that the Behr does not open quite as much as the Audi, thus the slightly hotter temp. It is not a problem unless you are in an area with heavy stop & go traffic in 90+ degree weather.
