Slipping clutch!

Slipping clutch!
Well, at 54000 miles I'm getting clutch slip in gears 3(not much)4,5 and 6.
Having driven 5 previous Audis, and many other cars, all to near 200000 miles each with never a clutch problem, this is irritating.
Anyone else?

Dont feel too bad, mine went out at 28,000, but good news.
My Audi tech told me that the clutches are complete crap, and were not designed to be slipped. He told me its bad to hold the car on a hill with the clutch. This is great, an AWD car with a clutch that is not made to slip? What is supposed to slip then? Anyway, he told me that they have countless numbers of A4s and S4s and TTs and Golfs and Jettas all with bad clutches. When is VW/Audi going to learn that their reputation is going downhill because of their build quality. My Tech did advise me to get an aftermarket clutch. I asked him if that would Void my warranty. he said, "I wouldn't worry about that". Yeah, right!!!!

Just a note, I don't hold the car on the clutch, have done maybe 2 hottish starts total. I do have an MTM ECU. Guess I'll eventually put in an aftermarket "real" clutch.
BTW, I think the clutch is warranteed for 12000 miles

Yep. I just noticed mine starting to do this yesterday....
...and only at 15.7k miles. I was running WOT up an interstate on-ramp, foot completely off the clutch pedal (of course), and noticed some slippage in 2nd & 3rd. ESP was on, so it wasn't tire slippage. I've been real easy on the clutch, or so I thought, although there was one time a few months ago I was on a steep hill at a stop sign waiting to cross a busy street, when I revved it too high and let it out too slow, and smelled that awful burning smell. That was enough to remind me never to do that again. I did not notice that smell yesterday though.
Are there any temporary conditions, such as the weather that could cause slippage? It was 45 and sunny yesterday.

*noob* sorry, but what exactly does clutch slip feel like? >>
I'm still a noob at a manual (only about 1 1/2 years experience) and I have no idea what this should feel like. Can someone explain?

With foot off the clutch, you hear engine speed increase....
without acceleration increasing proportionally. As the clutch fully engages, the engine speed then decreases, and you feel full acceleration.
